Tirana Municipality backed by Swiss project RisiAlbania inaugurates the first career

guidance centre to assist youngsters and adults seeking employment

The Career Guidance Office of Tirana Municipality that opened December 18th, offers a new service for young

people and the wider community. It will serve to inform and advise young people and adults in their

professional and educational decisions.

Deputy Mayor Anisa Ruseti and Swiss Ambassador Adrian Maître were the first visitors in the centre on

its opening day. The centre’s services follow the model of Swiss examples of career centres, adapted

to Albania’s context and youth needs.

“Career guidance has a two-fold benefit: First, young people benefit from a well-informed career decision

resulting in their social, financial and emotional well-being. Second, employers benefit from wellinformed and better qualified young people entering the job market. Therefore, I am glad that

Switzerland’s youth employment project RisiAlbania is cooperating with Tirana municipality to provide

career guidance services. I wish you success in operating and maintaining the services of this centre

for the benefit of the youth of this country and its capital city”, said Swiss Ambassador Adrian Maître.

“We are very happy to open today this office which is the first in Albania.

There is an increased focus on innovative fields when it comes to careers, towards what will be the trend

for the next 100 years and we would like to be in step with this development by helping young people in

their orientation. Through the portal www.karriera.tirana.al youngsters will be able to access everything

this office has to offer”, said Deputy Mayor Ms. Ruseti.

The office will cooperate with public institutions, businesses and youth associations to increase

continuously its service quality. Different age groups will receive specialized services: career education

for pre-university students, group and individual guidance, and career development training for young

people and interested adults.

Counselors who work at the centre have received training according to international professional

standards and exchanges with Swiss counterparts. Contemporary tools will be used to explore areas of

career interest for job-seekers, to analyze their needs for counseling and guidance, and to identify

difficulties that young people and adults face in making decisions in their professional journey.

tools for career guidance, as well as information on education and training opportunities, internships,

and jobs.
