Pik Industry sh.pk, supported by Risi Albania hosted on Friday the conference entitled “Promoting fruit and vegetable exports to high value markets through the presentation of sustainable packaging and good post-harvest practices”.

This event is a special effort to analyze the problems in a wide range of fresh agri-food products from the production phase to the final consumer. The purpose of this meeting was to provide participants with a platform for evaluation and professional solutions by specialists in the field, in favour of farmers and exporters in order to increase quality control of domestic production and use of processing and packaging technologies.

The meeting also focused on promotion of competitiveness of Albanian products in European markets through the introduction of sustainable packaging and the provision of new jobs for young people in the agro sector.

Giovanni Nicotra and Andrea Basile, experts from Southern Italy showcased on details the problems faced by companies and the Albanian market in these years, based on their experience. They especially focused on new methods required by markets, supermarkets and corporates that manage the full cycle of fruits and vegetables from farmers to consumers.
