“Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës, supported by the Swiss project RisiAlbania, inaugurated the Career and Alumni Sector, which supports students to make well-informed career decisions, as well as helps them prepare for the labour market.

The center was inaugurated today in the presence of Mr. Patrick Meier, Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy in Albania; Prof. Dr. Kseanela Sotirofski, Rector of the University of Durrës; Mrs. Edlira Muedini, RisiAlbania Project Manager; representatives of local government as well as partner universities.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC, through the RisiAlbania project has facilitated the development of career guidance services in Albania, through a holistic approach, inspired by the Swiss model.
The efforts of Aleksandër Moisiu Durrës University were finalized today with the opening of this office, despite the challenges and the short time.

This infrastructure helps students in their transition from university life to the labuor market and is complementary to other initiatives that UAMD has undertaken in the field of career.

The office will provide students with information and training on the situation in the labour market, basic knowledge on the job application process, as well as opportunities to develop their skills. Students will be continuously introduced to job offers, internships or volunteer work through the office.

UAMD career counselors are trained according to the international standard “Global Career Development Facilitator” and have benefited from professional exchanges with Polish counterparts from the Warsaw University of Technology. They use tools adapted to the context of Albania and the needs of young people in the country.

During 2020, UAMD  responded quickly to the pandemic through a series of webinars, where, among other things, the “Career Guide” was introduced. This guide is a tool for independent use by young people at the university level during their job search and application process.
