The Secretariat of Albania Investment Council carried out an analysis of Investment Promotion and Priority Sectors in the country and initiated discussions on the main findings and suggestions of this study with experts from public, private and donor institutions. The discussions will contribute to the establishment of a new economic model for Albania after 2020, the moment when some of the most important strategies of the Albanian government will be completed and the two major foreign investments, TAP and Statkraft, will come to an end.

RisiAlbania is contributing to the discussions and roundtables organized so far with expertise in the ICT sector. ICT is one of the potential sectors in the country for attracting domestic and foreign investment. Andi Stefanllari, Intervention Manager at RisiAlbania, proposed several measures to be taken in consideration such as declaring ICT as a strategic sector, assigning the policy-making process for the ICT sector to a Ministry, moving from the “digital agenda” to a sector development strategy for the next 10 years, and increasing public investment and incentives in developing skills and qualifications to enable the development of value-added services within the sector.

The Investment Council is a platform set up by the Albanian authorities with support from the EBRD to intensify the dialogue between the government and the private sector, improve the business climate and promote good governance.
