“Tourism Development is a priority for all municipalities in the Qarku of Gjirokastra and we are happy to see that the Visit Gjirokastra Association has a vision for the future. The portal visit-gjirokastra.com is a strategic tool for presenting the assets our region has” – said the Mayor of Gjirokastra Flamur Golemi in his opening remarks.
During the event was presented the achievement of the association and the vision for the coming years, aiming at transforming Gjirokastra region into a tourism destination. “We see Gjirokastra innovating in public-private cooperation” praised Stefan Joss, director of the SDC project RisiAlbania
With the Visit-Gjirokastra portal being the main gateway to the region, the neighboring remote areas are benefiting from the promotion of the entire region, while engaging rural businesses and services, ensuring that tourists will continue to come back.
The project is supporting the association and soon a team of Visit-Gjirokastra will attend one of the most important training for Sustainable Tourism organized by Global Sustainable Tourism Council – GSTC. This knowledge will help to transform Gjirokastra into the first tourism sustainable destination in Albania.
