On 17 October 2025, key stakeholders from across Albania gathered at Hotel Tirana for the national conference “Skills for the Future, Power for Change.” The event served as a platform to explore the evolving demands of the labor market and the role of education and vocational training in preparing individuals for a rapidly changing world. The conference was organized by the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Qualifications (NAVETQ), with support from Helvetas through the RisiAlbania project, of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The keynote speech was delivered by Ummuhan Bardak, Senior Specialist at the European Training Foundation (ETF), who provided a broad overview of global trends shaping the future of work. She addressed rising uncertainties, changes in employment and education models, the growing impact of artificial intelligence, and the urgent need for future-ready skills. Her message emphasized the importance of building a resilient and adaptable skills ecosystem.
The conference was moderated by Ermira Shyti, Team Leader for Skills and Career Guidance at Helvetas. Opening remarks were delivered by Ejvis Gishti, Director of NAVETQ, who stressed the importance of lifelong learning and a people-centered approach to education. Edlira Muedini, Country Manager of Helvetas in Albania, presented the achievements of the RisiAlbania project in promoting innovative training offers and strengthening youth employment initiatives.
In the second session, participants were divided into working groups to develop concrete ideas and proposals related to future skills and vocational education. The conference concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering cooperation among institutions, practitioners, and policymakers. It reinforced a shared vision for building a future-ready workforce equipped with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex and technology-driven world.
