Quality, certification of agricultural products according to international standards is the ticket of Albanian exporters to enter the high value markets. The G.A.P Global National Working Group has held a series of meetings during November in the main regions of the country with fruit and vegetable collectors and exporters. The focus of the meetings has been the discussion and coordination of actions to promote the standards of the fruit-vegetable market intended for export to high-value markets, having the exporters as the main regulators for the implementation and certification of quality standards. Noting the 2-digit increase in fruit and vegetable exports for the years 2019-2021, exporters stated that the demand from the EU markets for certified products is quite high. They expressed willingness to support small farmers through group certification to increase the number of products for export.

A continuation of these important topics was also the Conference titled: “The Road of Albanian Fruits and Vegetables Towards International Markets” held on November 25, 2022. International and national actors of Agribusiness met together and shared the best practices and experiences. The focus of this conference were standards of certification in the sector of fruits and vegetables and a clear panorama of the actual situation in Albania with all its developments, challenges, and possibilities.
